St. Brides is the largest community on the Cape Shore and the closest community (17km) away from Cape St. Mary's Ecological Reserve. A small but vibrant fishing community and a community steeped in its Irish Roots.Getting around
The home is situated at the entrance or end of the community depending on which is your route of travel.
The heart of St. Brides is the small harbour with various sized vessels that fish for the many species in the area. Perhaps you will be lucky enough to get some from a fisherman or better yet be invited to go out for a spin.
Cape St. Mary's Ecological reserve is only 17 km away across a barren highway. Apart from the amazing birding and hiking, there is also the Cape St. Mary's Concert Series which brings in wonderful musical and other acts throughout the summer. Don't miss their after concert dessert table.
Leaving St. Brides and heading to Placentia (30 min drive) be prepared for stunning vistas and plenty of hills and some sandy beaches also.
Drive the other way and head past Cape St. Mary's to Branch -a place where surfers play and also a place deeply Irish in language and tradition.
Places to Eat - St. Brides - Da Bird's Eye - with great local food and fresh fish. Branch - The Loft.
Sunday mornings in these communities is quite quiet - not many things open - stock up on supplies and gas the night before or rest easy on Sunday mornings.
You will definitely need a car to get here and explore. There is plenty of parking on site.
